Abandoned Village, Portugal June 2007





Fernando and I stopped by the side of the road to fill our water bottles from a public fountain gushing with springwater and decided to follow an enticing path that let to an abandoned village. I couldn't help but to be taken by all of the beautiful textures of disintegration.

Santiago Albiac has worked the land in his village since he was a small boy. In addition to farming the traditional Mediterranean crops of olives, almonds and grapes, he grows the majority of the food that is eaten at his family's table.
